Don't Be Like Victor

Don't be like Victor.
A part of the Grand Canyon National Park's "Hike Safe" program, this saying reminded visitors to drink water, eat salt, and wear appropriate clothing, among other things, by showing what consequences the bad choices of Victor brought upon him. Just as the fictional character of Victor taught tourists to the Grand Canyon how to be prepared for extreme climate conditions, it is my hope that this blog, named in honor of our unfortunate hero, will help others learn how to adopt a lifestyle of preparedness.

Don't be like Victor!

When I tell most folks that I consider myself a prepper they ask where my nuclear fallout bunker is, and while I certainly advocate preparing for large scale disasters, preparedness as a lifestyle focuses much more on the little everyday inconveniences that could ruin an afternoon, even if they have little affect on the longevity of the earth as a whole. Living a lifestyle of preparedness is the equivalent of playing chess, except in this game the whole world is your chess board. By planning for all possible outcomes five moves out you can be ready for whatever comes your way and save yourself some effort, pain, and sorrow in the big scheme of things.

Thank you all for checking out my little blog! I hope that as I create a bank of resources you will be able to adopt some of the things I have found useful and made your time on this ball of rock hurtling around the sun just a little bit easier.

Make sure to check back tomorrow as I will be posting about every day carry, or EDC, here.
